Job Posting: Japanese Language Kindergarten Assistant

The Vancouver Japanese Language School welcomes Japanese language teachers who are passionate about teaching students of all ages and backgrounds—from children to adults—and who are committed to contributing to the development of a multigenerational community.

This is a part-time position, primarily involving 36 Saturday kindergarten classes held between September 2025 and June 2026.

As a Japanese Language Kindergarten Assistant, you will support the lead teacher and help create an environment where children can enjoy learning Japanese and develop an appreciation for Japanese culture through various cultural experiences. The main responsibilities are as follows:

[Job Responsibilities]

• Care, education, and safety management of 5-year-old kindergarten students
• Assist the lead teacher based on the kindergarten curriculum guidelines
• Prepare and clean up class activities
• Lead Japanese hand games, traditional songs, picture book readings, and seasonal songs with piano accompaniment
• Plan annual events and prepare related documents

[Working Hours]

• 36 Saturdays between September 2025 and June 2026
• Each Saturday includes 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the afternoon, between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM
• Additional hours may be required for:
  • Orientation
  • All-staff meeting on August 23
  • Weekly short Saturday meetings
  • Support for school events

[Eligibility Requirements]

• University degree
• Preference given to those with a Japanese kindergarten teacher license and/or nursery teacher (childcare worker) license
• Preference given to those with work experience in kindergartens or nursery schools in Japan
• Basic PC skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Must be a permanent resident or have a valid work permit through the end of June 2026

[Compensation]

• 10-month contract covering:
  • 36 Saturday classes (morning and afternoon)
  • Orientation
  • August 23 all-staff meeting
  • Weekly short Saturday meetings
  • Support for school events 
• Total: $4,800
