The Vancouver Japanese Language School welcomes enthusiastic and community-minded Japanese Language Teachers to join the team, offering Japanese language lessons to children from Kinder through Grade 12, and adults of all ages and backgrounds.   

The teacher is a part-time position, working 36 Saturdays from September through June with additional opportunities for teaching outside these hours.  

The Japanese Language Teacher develops the student’s ability to learn the Japanese language and build familiarity and deeper connection to Japanese culture. The duties and responsibilities for this role are:   

1. Content Planning and Facilitation

• Prepares course objectives and lesson plans to support the curriculum guidelines outlined for each course;
• Instructs students using a wide variety of methods (lecturing, group discussion, role playing) to deliver interesting lessons; 
  
• Incorporates the use of technology and other supplemental teaching materials as required;  
• Interprets and incorporates feedback to meet the needs of the students;  
• Maintains a classroom environment which is conducive to learning;  
• Participates in Activity or Event committees (e.g. Yearbook, Sports Day).  

2. Quality Assurance

• Establishes procedures for assessing student performance and addressing gaps;
• Maintains up-to-date student records in accordance with VJLS-JH requirements;  
• Provides behaviour expectations consistent with VJLS-JH’s philosophy and policies;   
• Participates in teacher development and skills building workshops;  
• Ensures the classroom environment is safe.

3. Communication

• Communicates and works effectively with students, staff, parents and community members;
• Attends family conferences;
  
• Attends staff meetings;
• Participates in committees as required;  
• Encourages families to participate in the school community.  

4. Performs related duties as required.

勤務地： カナダ・バンクーバー

勤務時間： 2026年9月～2027年6月の間の36回の土曜日に、午前9時から午後5時30分の間で、1日につき2時間または3時間の授業を1コマ以上担当
※授業準備、会議、成績表作成、その他必要な業務の追加勤務時間あり

給与： 担当授業数により変動

10か月契約につき
担任 $3,266 (2時間クラス1コマ) ～$7,222 (3時間＋２時間クラス)
※生徒数に応じた追加報酬あり（小1から高３担任）

10か月契約につき
アシスタント $1,902(2時間クラス1コマ) ～$4,080(3時間＋２時間クラス)

その他の勤務機会（経験・資格に応じて担当可能）：
・平日および週末の個人レッスン
・平日夜のオンラインクラスなど

・日本語が母語レベルであること
・日本文化に関する理解と経験
・短大・大学卒業以上
・教職経験またはそれに相当する経験
・基本的なPCスキル（Microsoft Word、Excel、PowerPointの操作が可能）
・英語による基本的な会話・読み書きが可能であること
・コミュニティの一員としての意識を持てること

※教員免許保持者、日本語教育能力検定試験合格者、または日本語講師養成講座修了者優遇
