Please consider supporting one of our fundraisers this holiday season.

First, we offer Purdy’s chocolate. If sweet gifts are not your favourite, please consider ordering your laundry supplies from Tru Earth, bringing your clean empties for our Bottle Drive, or simply making a direct donation to the school. Every dollar counts!

Purdy’s Chocolates

Delicious and sweet! When you use our fundraising link, the school will receive 25 cents of every dollar you spend on Purdy’s Chocolates. There are even chocolates for vegans and people sensitive to sugar! Thank you to board member Igor Pavlov for arranging this fundraiser.

  • Deadline for orders (online only): November 20th, 2023
  • Pick up chocolates at the school: Saturday, December 9th, 2023

How can you help?

  1. Give your friends and relations chocolate this holiday season!
  2. Encourage friends and neighbours to give chocolate to their friends and relations!

  4. Volunteer to help pack chocolates in the week before distribution!

Tru Earth Laundry Products

Imagine – laundry detergent without a plastic jug! Tru Earth “Eco-strips” are pre-measured strips of liquidless laundry cleaner that dissolve in your wash. They are delivered to your home – no shopping or picking up required. They have developed a full and beautiful line of products. They are economical, eco-friendly and are made locally in Port Moody! Their cause is to make lasting change to help the planet and to eradicate plastic from the environment.

VJLS-JH will earn at least 20% on every sale made through our fundraising link, allowing you help the school every time you purchase cleaning supplies. The complete lineup of Tru Earth’s eco-friendly products is available on our fundraising shop page.

Thank you to Paula Nishikawara for organizing this fundraiser. Visit Paula on the third floor (left as you go through the elevator doors) to see her ocean-themed art installation in progress. The work will be installed at the Foss Waterway Seaport in Tacoma WA in January 2024.

VJLS-JH Bottle Drive

We welcome all your clean, refundable empties to the school. We welcome them in bags, boxes, and backpacks. We welcome them in the labelled bins located on every floor of the school. If you are not sure what is eligible for a refund, this is the time to learn! Here is a list of all the refundable bottles in British Columbia. And you are probably wondering if you should leave caps on or off. The answer is: ON! Thank you to Junji Nagano for organizing this fundraiser, and for keeping it going week after week.

How can you help?

  1. Bring bring your refundable containers to the school on Saturdays, and please make sure they are clean!
  2. Please do not put garbage into the recycling bins!
  3. Organize a bottle drive with your friends and neighbours and bring those to the school on Saturdays!

Make a Donation

Another way to support the school is to make a monetary donation. We appreciate your generosity and we will provide you with a tax receipt. You can donate online or directly (VJLS-JH, 487 Alexander St, Vancouver BC, V6A 1C6). Thank you!

Join a VJLS-JH Committee

Joining one of our committees is a great way to help the school. Not only will you be connecting to the long line of volunteers who have been helping with the school since it first opened in 1906, you will enjoy the rewards of sharing your expertise and learning from new colleagues.
