Message from New Principal, Kotoe Hisata
My name is Kotoe Hisata, and I am honored to have been appointed as the Principal of the Vancouver Japanese Language School.
I first joined the Vancouver Japanese Language School and Japanese Hall (VJLS-JH) in 2007, beginning my journey as an educator in “Kodomo no Kuni,” the early childhood education and daycare program. Since then, I have also taught the Kindergarten class at the language school, continuing my role at Kodomo no Kuni until June 2025.
It is with great pride and joy that I take on this role at such a historic and culturally rich institution. Over the years, in addition to teaching, I have been actively involved in various events and activities at VJLS-JH, including helping with kimono dressing for our fundraising photo sessions, supporting bazaars, and participating in many community events, all of which I have truly enjoyed.
What I value most is daily communication and connection with students, parents, teachers, staff, volunteers, and members of our community. Through open dialogue and mutual trust, I hope to create an environment where everyone feels supported and inspired. I also wish to contribute in ways that help more people understand the value of our organization and find joy in being involved with us.
Moving forward, I am committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment where children can learn and grow, and to working wholeheartedly toward the continued development and success of our school.
If you see me around the school, please say hello—I look forward to getting to know you.
