
JLPT is a test for non-native speakers of Japanese which evaluates and certifies their Japanese-language proficiency. The test is simultaneously conducted in Japan and various locations overseas twice a year, in July and December.
Since JLPT began in 1984, the cumulative number of examinees in Japan and overseas has reached 12,720,000 until the rest in December 2020. Currently, it is the largest Japanese language test in the world.
The official JLPT website has sample question in a form of a quiz that learners can take to test their knowledge, as well as self assess what level of the JLPT they should study for.

Results are typically released 2 months after the exam.
DECEMBER 2025 EXAM: The online Test Results Announcement for the JLPT 2025 (DECEMBER) is available on the website from 10:00 AM on Friday, January 30, 2026, until 5:00 PM on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 (Japan Standard Time).
How to check result: Please enter your voucher number and password to view your results. If you took the JLPT at the VJLS then your password should be your birthday (YYYYMMDD) format. Please refer to the email sent to you during your JLPT application.
