The school, which is a not-for-profit organization as well as a charity, offers children and adults opportunities to learn Japanese language and experience a variety of cultural activities.<\/p><p>The Maintenance Worker will be an essential and welcome part of our team. The position is well-suited to someone who likes to research and solve problems, learn new things, and work as part of a team.\u00a0<\/p><ul><li>Support the facility through numerous indoor and outdoor construction projects which will be taking place at our facility in 2026.<\/li><li>Perform indoor and outdoor routine maintenance jobs such as painting and drywall repair.<\/li><li>Ensure security and safety measures are in place and maintained.<\/li><li>Assist with rental inquiries and the online booking system.<\/li><li>As a friendly representative of the organization, coordinate renters' set up and take down for events, and help with clean-up afterward.<\/li><li>Clean, monitor, and maintain exterior and interior areas of the property, including outdoor play areas, common areas, and washrooms.<\/li><li>Use AI and on-site personnel to develop maintenance manual and maintenance schedule for future.<\/li><li>Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing and electrical systems, coordinating with tradespersons as required.<\/li><li>Maintain inventory and restock supplies in washrooms and elsewhere as needed.<\/li><li>Report issues to the facilities team.<\/li><li>Provide other general assistance to the facilities team as needed.<\/li><\/ul><p>Interest in Japanese language and culture is important.<\/p><p>All applications are welcome; this program prioritizes hiring youth who are underrepresented in the labour market.<\/p><p>Located in Vancouver\u2019s historic Downtown Eastside, VJLS-JH is conveniently located near a variety of public transit options.<\/p><ul><li>Open date: April 15, 2026<\/li><li>Close date: open until filled<\/li><li>Start date: May 4, 2026 (negotiable)<\/li><li>Term: 8 weeks<\/li><li>Wage: $19\/hour, 35 hours\/week <br \/><br \/><\/li><\/ul><h2 class=\\\"_H3\\\"><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/h2><p>Individual eligible for this term position, which is funded by Canada Summer Jobs, must:<\/p><ul><li>be between 15 and 30 years of age <strong>at the beginning<\/strong> of the employment period,<\/li><li>be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the <em>Immigration and Refugee Protection Act<\/em> for the duration of the employment (sorry, international students are not eligible);<\/li><li>have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.<\/li><\/ul><h2 class=\\\"_H3\\\"><strong>To Apply<\/strong><\/h2><p>Please send a CV and cover letter (which must indicate how you meet the eligibility requirements) to <span><a href=\\\"mailto:admin@vjls-jh.com\\\">admin@vjls-jh.com<\/a><\/span> with the subject: \u201cVJLS-JH Maintenance Worker\u201d.
